Rocket Vaccine Incentive Program

Each member of The University of Toledo community has a role to play in keeping our campus safe as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

To promote and protect the health and safety of our campus, the University announced a new COVID-19 vaccination requirement for students and employees on Sept. 1, 2021. The higher our vaccination rate, the healthier our campus will be. 

Vaccinated students and employees who share proof of their immunization against COVID-19 now through Oct. 6 are eligible for thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes through the Rocket VIP incentive program.

We need every student and employee to report their vaccination status as soon as possible so we can have an accurate campus vaccination rate to make data-driven public health decisions.

How It Works

All full-time and part-time students and employees are eligible to enter the Rocket VIP incentive program if they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. To enter, visit UToledo’s secure vaccine registry portal to upload your proof of vaccination.

UToledo will hold drawings each Thursday from the pool of eligible entries as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday. Student and employee winners will be chosen each week.

Winners will be contacted via their University email. While you may enter after receiving one dose, winners must provide proof of full vaccination to claim the prize.

On Oct. 7, UToledo will choose one student and one employee for the grand prizes of a $2,000 prepaid Visa card. Grand prize winners also will have the opportunity to ride in the UToledo Homecoming Parade on Saturday, Oct. 9.


Prizes

Weekly prizes will be awarded to multiple employees and multiple students.

Student prizes include:

  • Level A parking permit for one year
  • $250 worth of dining dollars
  • Sony PlayStation5 console
  • 43-inch smart TV
  • A professional on-campus photo shoot

Employee prizes include:

  • One-year membership to the UToledo Rec Center
  • Two tickets in the Athletic Development Suite for the Nov. 27 Rocket football game against Akron
  • A private showing for up to 80 at the UToledo Ritter Planetarium
  • $250 Visa prepaid gift card
  • Apple watch

Winners will have their names removed from remaining weekly drawings but will remain eligible for the $2,000 grand prize drawing.

FAQs:

Why should I get vaccinated?
Vaccination is the best way to keep you safe. Vaccines remain highly effective at preventing serious illness from COVID-19, including the highly transmissible delta variant, and reduce opportunities for the virus to mutate.

Rocket VIP rewards students and employees who have already received their vaccine and provides an incentive for those who have not yet received their vaccine.

Does the University require the COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes. Following the first COVID-19 vaccine receiving full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and in response to the rapid spread of the delta variant, The University of Toledo announced a new COVID-19 vaccination requirement for students and employees on Sept. 1, 2021

All students and employees, including those working on campus and working remotely, are required to be vaccinated or have an approved exemption by Nov. 15.

Do I have to be fully vaccinated to participate in the incentive program?
You may enter the drawing after receiving one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. If you receive a Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, you must show proof of also receiving the second dose to claim your prize.

How do I claim my prize?
Winners will be contacted via their University email with instructions on how to claim their prize. Prizes must be picked up in person at Main Campus.

I submitted documentation of my COVID-19 vaccine before this program was announced. Am I automatically entered?
Yes. Everyone who submitted proof of vaccination against COVID-19  will receive an email notifying them that they have been entered into the drawing. If you choose to opt out of the incentive program, you can do so via a link in that notification email.

Can I share my vaccination status without entering the drawing?
Yes. When you upload proof of vaccination against COVID-19, you’ll receive an email that provides a link for you to opt out of the incentive program if you choose to do so.

Are international students eligible to participate?
Yes.

Are part-time students and employees eligible to participate?
Yes. 

Are there any exclusions to eligibility?
Yes. Members of the University’s senior leadership team, college deans and hospital leadership team are not eligible to win incentive prizes.

Are prizes taxable?
Yes, prizes are generally treated by the IRS as taxable income.
