Caring Web

Caring Web - Education and Support for Caregivers

The Caring Web is designed for caregivers and survivors of stroke to provide general educational information and support. Much of this content may also be useful for other caregivers or persons with cognitive issues related to diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Currently, over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease or related Dementias and over 15 million Americans provide unpaid care for these persons. Each year, about 800,000 individuals in the U.S. have a stroke. Roughly 50 percent of the 4.8 million stroke survivors living at home require assistance due to physical or cognitive deficits and 4/5 families provide this care. Family caregivers account for 80 percent of the care provided in long-term care and support services, but are often untrained in regard to medical conditions and care.
