Mingli Xiao

Mingli Xiao Assistant Director of Instructional Design and Development

Mingli joined UT in 2008 as an instructional designer and has since accepted the position of assistant director for instructional design and development. She also serves as a graduate faculty and teaches as an adjunct. Mingli is a recipient of the Blackboard Catalyst Award for Exemplary Course design, and the co-developer of UT's first Quality Matters recognized course "Online Teaching Certificate Course;" this award-winning online course also achieved Quality Matters national recognition. 

Earning her Ph.D. from Ohio University in 2007, Mingli also holds MA degrees in English language and literature and linguistics. Her research interests include instructional design, computer-assisted language learning, as well as second language acquisition. 

Mingli is a certified Quality Matters Master Reviewer and Peer Reviewer. In addition to serving on the program committee for the eLearn conference since 2010, she also serves on the Horizon Editorial Board for Foreign Language EdTech Project and is a peer reviewer for several refereed journals. 

A happy mother of three, Mingli enjoys spending time with her husband, their kids, and 2 dogs. She also loves reading, traveling, listening to music, cooking and gardening in her spare time.
