WHERE DO I FIND MODELS?

Thingiverse - Thingiverse is a website run by Makerbot that allows the sharing of user-created 3D models.  Although many of the models are printable on MakerBot devices, there are designs for a variety of 3D printers, laser cutters and milling machines.

Thingiverse Education - This website is a spin-off of the main Thingiverse site, but focuses entirely on educational lessons that are divided by grade level.

Pinshape - Curated selections of free and for-pay STL files from a community of Makers.

YouMagine - Collaborative site for Makers where you can download open source 3D models.

HOW DO I BUILD MY OWN MODELS?

Tinkercad - Easy to use web-based 3D design tool.  No design experience necessary.

Sketchup - Former Google Sketchup is a 3D modeling application used for a wide range of applications including architecture, engineering, film and video game design.
