08/25/14    Dr. Rashmi Jha has been awarded a grant of $199995 from NSF, titled, "SaTC: Collaborative: Exploiting Spintronics for Security, Trust and Authentication", for a duration of 3 years (09/01/2014 - 08/31/2017). This research will explore fabrication and electrical characterization of domain wall based novel spintronic devices and explore applications in the area of cyber security. "Spintronics" explores spin properties of electrons over the electronic charges and offers a paradigm shift in computing and cyber security. The research will be performed in collaboration with the Computer Science faculty from the University of South Florida.

04/24/14    Dr. Rashmi Jha has received following supplements for her career award from NSF : (1) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) supplement award from NSF (16,000 USD) for 2014-2015, and (ii) Research Experienced for Teachers (RET) award from NSF (10,000 USD) for 2014-2015. A very accomplished and nationally acclaimed high school physics teacher will work in her lab during summer on RET grant.

07/01/13    Dr. Rashmi Jha has received Summer Faculty Fellowship Award from The University of Michigan for fabricating high density crossbar arrays of Memristive devices under the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN) program.
06/17/13    Dr. Xiaohua Xu (PI) has been awarded a three-year research grant of $244,808 from the National Science Foundation. The project is titled “Optimal Joint Spectrum Allocation and Scheduling for Cognitive Radio Networks." Dr. Xiaohua Xu is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the EECS Department and Co-Director of the Center of Cyber-security and Wireless Innovations.

09/01/12    A team of researchers including Dr. Vijay Devabhaktuni (University of Toledo), Dr. Arjuna Madanayake (University of Akron), Dr. Srinivasa Vemuru (Ohio Northern University) and Dr. Chunsheng Xin (Norfolk State University) have been awarded a $499,883 NSF EARS grant for their collaborative project EARS: Collaborative Research: Enhancing Spectral Access via Directional Spectrum Sensing Employing 3D Cone Filterbanks: Interdisciplinary Algorithms and Prototypes. 
Dr. Devabhaktuni was instrumental in putting together this successful team for this esteemed NSF solicitation, which resonates with President Obama’s National Broadband Plan.

08/20/12    The administrative board of “Jordan’s Scientific Research Fund Support” has decided to reward Mr. Khair Al-Shamaileh with the best thesis prize for his master’s research titled Analysis and Design of Compact Planar Passive Microwave Components for Wireless Applications conducted under the supervision of Professor N. Dib. Khair joined our Department as PhD student this Fall. The recognition includes a $2,000 cash prize. Congratulations to Khair on this prestigious accomplishment!

07/02/12    Dr. Vijay Devabhaktuni (PI) has received $50,000 grant from NSF for his project titled I-Corps: A Compact Low-Cost Wire Antenna Array for Dedicated Short Range Communications. This grant is to support the exploration of a “Go versus No go” decision, for commercialization of Vijay’s new antenna. The project will involve Dr. Mohammad Almalkawi (Research Assistant Professor) and Mr. Lee Cross (I-Corps Mentor from IST Toledo).
06/28/12    Dr. Vijay Devabhaktuni (PI) and Dr. Roger King (Co-PI) have received a $70,000 research grant (not incl. UT’s cost-share) from the Wind Energy Corporation for a project entitled Computer Aided Assessment of Renewable Energy Resources in Commercial Environments – Phase II. The project is for a 1-year duration and will involve a Postdoctoral Researcher.
06/22/12    Dr. Lingfeng Wang (PI) is currently working with Greensleeves LLC on a 3-month research project entitled "Modeling, Optimization, and Integration of Building Control Systems". The total award for the project is $54,637 including UT contributions.

06/12/12    Dr. William Acosta (PI) and Dr. Vijay Devabhaktuni have received a $50,000 research grant from Pilkington North America, Inc., for a project entitled Development of Mobile Integration with Auto Aftermarket eCommerce and Lot Traceability for Automotive Plants. This is the phase 1 of a total of 3 phases envisioned by Pilkington and UT team. The project will involve two domestic MS students.
06/11/12    Dr. Vijay Devabhaktuni has received the prestigious 2012 UT Undergraduate Research Recognition Award for involving undergraduate students in research. The award comes with two tokens of appreciation. The first is the certificate signed by Chancellor Gold and Provost McMillen. The second is a lapel pin of the UT Office of Undergraduate Research.
06/07/12    The Wireless Networking and Cyber Security laboratory at the University of Toledo is seeking applications for two full-time Post-Doctoral or Research Associate positions in the areas of Wireless Mesh Networking, Cognitive Radio Networking, Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, and Wireless Communications. The successful candidates will conduct research in the aforementioned areas and produce high-quality papers. 06/06/12    Dr. Makarand Deo has been awarded the Scientist Development Grant (SDG) of $308,000 by the American Heart Association (AHA). Dr. Vijay Devabhaktuni (Associate Professor, EECS Department) attracted last year Dr. Makarand Deo of the University of Michigan to join our department as a Research Assistant Professor. 04/02/12    We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Min Song as a Professor in the EECS Department. He received his PhD from the University of Toledo in 2001. His research interests include design, analysis, and evaluation of cognitive radio networks, wireless sensor networks, wireless mesh networks, WLAN, and mobile ad-hoc networks, and network security. He has secured more than $2 million research funding from NSF, DOE, and NASA, and published more than 110 technical papers. Dr. Song is the recipient of NSF CAREER Award and the recipient of DOE GAANN Award.
