Program Educational Objectives

According to ABET, Inc., Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve.

The program educational objectives of the Information Technology program will result in graduates that will:

  1. Obtain positions as information technology professionals in various industries and government agencies that are involved in the creation, maintenance and use of computers, computer networks and computer information systems.
  2. Demonstrate effective problem solving skills that will enable them to be successful professionals.
  3. Function effectively in a professional environment.
  4. Continue their studies in IT-related graduate programs to enhance their careers in information technology.

Program educational objectives normally identify such things as the fields of technical specialization, careers, job titles, and/or education paths for which the program is preparing graduates. The IT program educational objectives listed above guide the program faculty in defining the knowledge and skills that graduates need in order to be successful in their chosen careers.
