Program Educational Objectives

According to ABET, Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve.

The Program Educational Objectives of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program will result in graduates that will:

  1. Possess the skills and knowledge to successfully secure a position as a practicing engineer or in a related engineering position
  2. Acquire an ability to function productively in a professional environment
  3. Demonstrate effective problem solving skills related to the mechanical engineering fieldset of gears
  4. Successfully engage in continuing education and professional development

Program educational objectives normally identify such things as the fields of technical specialization, careers, job titles, and/or education paths for which the program is preparing graduates. The MET program educational objectives listed above guide the program faculty in defining the knowledge and skills that graduates need in order to be successful in their chosen careers.
