Obtaining Services

All registered University of Toledo students are eligible to obtain services at Student Health and Wellness

Student Health and Wellness schedules both Telehealth and in person provider appointments. Appointments are required to minimize your wait time and, and to coordinate with our provider’s availability. Walk-in appointments are not permitted at Student Health and Wellness.

To schedule you must have a valid student UT Rocket ID card, a copy of your insurance information, a method of payment such as credit/debit card will be needed for required insurance co-pays. Please have a list of your current medications you are taking if applicable.

About us

Student Health and Wellness is located on the Health Science Campus in the Richard D. Ruppert Health Center near the University of Toledo Medical Center, it is directly across from the Medical Pavilion. On the Campus map it is labeled Ruppert Health Center (RHC).

Confidentiality

Here at Student Health and Wellness your privacy is of our utmost concern. When you turn 18 years old the medical profession has a legal and ethical responsibility to protect your privacy. This means that every visit to our office is strictly confidential and information about your visit will not be released to anyone without your written permission. Records are not released except when required by law or matters of public health.

Acknowledgement of Privacy Practices and the Confidential Communications Form will be given to you to designate access or refusal at your first visit and are updated once yearly. Patient Rights

The University of Toledo Student Health and Wellness Center is dedicated to caring for each person with respect and dignity. We consider you a partner who wants to understand and make informed decisions about your health care. Patient outcomes and participation improve if you know your rights and responsibilities.

You have the right to reasonable access to treatment that is available and medically indicated regardless of age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.

Our staff is committed to health care equality. You have the right to considerate care that respects your cultural and personal values, beliefs and preferences.

Patient Responsibilities

You have the responsibility to provide accurate and complete information regarding your health history along with insurance and third-party payer information.

Satisfy financial obligations for health services provided.

Keep scheduled appointments or cancel them in advance.

Follow medical instructions and discuss changes or concerns about your ability to comply and to ask questions if you do not understand information about your care. Accept the consequences of your action if you refuse treatment or do not follow instructions.

Act in a considerate and cooperative manner and respect the rights and property of others and to follow the rules and regulations of the health-care facility.

Fees and Payment

Student insurance holders are responsible for understanding and following the terms of their selected insurance health plan. Be sure to know your benefits, co-pay requirements, obtain proper authorization for service when required and to submit referral or claims forms if necessary.

Fees are assessed for office visits, and services provided on site such as point of care testing, lab draws, procedures and medication supplies. The student’s insurance will be billed, third party billing is provided.

Please note: Student Health and Wellness does not have laboratory or radiology services within the clinic and utilizes the services of University of Toledo Medical Center. Patients may obtain services at a facility of their choosing and are encouraged to consult their insurance policy for a list of covered facilities. Services are billed separately by the facility where those services are performed.

 **Please note: For services rendered at all student health locations co-pays will be collected at time of service.

Pre-matriculation requirements are billed to student’s insurance at time of service.

After hours care

The department of Family Medicine provides after hours and Saturday appointments at their location at the Comprehensive Care Center (CCC) near the Health Science Campus.

Mental Health

Behavioral Health Services is the Health Science Campus primary facility for personal counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological outreach and consultation services. Services are located within the Ruppert Health Center (RHC) at 3125 Transverse Drive.
