Claire Copa is an Assistant Lecturer in the Recreation Therapy Program at The University of Toledo. Claire received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from The University of Toledo. Currently, Claire is working towards finishing her Doctor of Philosophy in Health Education and Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Gerontological Practice at The University of Toledo.

 Additionally, Claire is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She has both clinical and community-based experience working with a variety of populations; including, older adults, at-risk youth, intellectual and developmental disabilities, psychiatric illnesses, and chemical dependency. As for teaching experience, Claire has taught for 4 years in the Recreation Therapy and Public Health Program as a graduate assistant and as adjunct faculty in the Recreation Therapy Program at The University of Toledo. Her research interests include improving health outcomes through Recreation Therapy-based interventions, health promotion among the LGBTQ * aging population and preventing the misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
