Jim Tuschman is a Lecturer in Legal Specialties. He has been a practicing trial lawyer for the last 50 years, having practiced before the United States Supreme Court, the Ohio Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for both the Sixth and Seventh Judicial Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, various appellate districts in Ohio and various trial courts throughout the States of Ohio and Michigan. He is currently Of Counsel to the law firm of Barkan & Robon Ltd. He has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America, the National Trial Lawyers Association, Ohio’s Super Lawyers List and Who’s Who in American Law, and has been selected as a fellow in the International Society of Barristers. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Toledo (Chair in 2000-2002), the Governor’s Commission on Higher Education and the Economy (2002-2003 Co‑Chair Governance, Structure and Finance), The Ohio Board of Regents (Chair 2009-2012), the Joint Task Force on Intermodal Transportation (Chair), the Toledo/Lucas County Port Authority (Chair 2016 to the present), the Great Lakes Historical Society Board of Directors (2012 to the present). He facilitated the merger of The University of Toledo and the former Medical University of Ohio in 2006. He has served as a national lecturer on topics of medical malpractice litigation and trial advocacy and he has lectured primarily in Ohio on topics regarding Higher Education administration, structure, governance and finance and the operations and policies of the Ohio Board of Regents. Jim teaches Civil Procedure and an advanced Litigation course, as well as Health Care and the Law; he has also taught Law Practice Management.
