Ken Martin

When he retired in 2016, Ken Martin was one of the world's most experienced lawyers in advising issuers, underwriters and sellers on IPO (initial public offerings of shares) transactions. His work has involved at one time or another all of the world's major stock markets.

Martin began his career as an associate in Shearman & Sterling’s New York office in 1990 and then moved to the firm's London office in 1992. In 1996, Ken joined the Special Execution Group at Goldman Sachs in London where he eventually became head of that group for Europe. In this role, Ken provided legal and policy-oriented advice to members of the firm's investment banking division. In 2001, Martin returned to private practice and joined the international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, as a partner, where he practiced U.S. corporate law in the firm's London and Hong Kong offices until he retired and returned to Toledo.

Martin is a 1984 graduate of Yale University, where he majored in economics. He received a master of business administration degree from New York University in 1990 and obtained his juris doctor from The University of Toledo College of Law the same year.
