Historical/Biographical Sketch
Carol Bresnahan, previously known as Carol Menning, was hired as a faculty member in the University of Toledo’s History Department in 1985. Before working at UT, she earned her AB from Smith College and went on to earn her AM and Ph.D. from Brown University. Then she briefly worked on the American Council on Education at the University of Illinois.
While at UT, Bresnahan was a professor of history, chair of the Faculty Senate, and the vice president for policies and programs. She held these positions until 2007, when she left the University. Currently, as of 2008, she is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Rollins College in Florida.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of the personal papers of Carol Bresnahan. These papers include information on her faculty awards in research and her fellowships, information about her work in the history department’s graduate program, miscellaneous documents pertaining to her career, information on the Provost Search Committee in 2001, and photographs of Dr. Bresnahan. This collection is arranged by series: Faculty Research Awards and Fellowships, History Department, Miscellaneous, Provost Search Committee, and Photographs. Each series is arranged either alphabetically or chronologically.
