Micro-Computed Tomography



Our laboratory is equipped with Scanco microCT 35 high resolution scanner for three-dimensional visualization of biological specimens. This instrument has a capacity for producing 2D and 3D images of radio opaque specimens (e.g. bone, contrasted soft tissue, bio materials, etc.) with 5 micron resolution and 2 micron detectability. The scanner is operated by HP Integrity rx 2660 server which runs advanced programs for measurement, evaluation and visualization of specimens

We are providing the following services to researchers interested in 3D visualization and structural analysis of biological samples and materials.

• Standarized morphometric analysis of small rodent bone.
• Morphometric analysis of human and large animal bones, cores and biopsies, up to 34mm x 140 mm.
• Assessment of bone strenth by determination of cross-sectional moment of inertia.
• Testing of orthopedic biomaterials in drilled hole defect model of mouse tibia.
• Distribution and quantification of fat content in bone and soft tissue.
• Visualization of surfaces, interfaces, and internal structures of materials.
• Custom applications and unique scientific projects.
• Interpretation of results and formal scientific reports.
