Baccalaureate to doctor of nursing practice (BACC2DNP)

What is BACC2DNP?

Do you want a direct path to become a leader in the nursing profession? BACC2DNP is a unique option for high school students who are planning on entering the nursing profession with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner or nurse executive. This is a special admission pathway into the University of Toledo College of Nursing for students interested in ultimately completing their D.N.P. in one of the following specialty areas:

  • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Nurse Executive
  • Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

First, you complete your Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at UToledo and then seamlessly transition into the Doctor of Nursing Practice program to achieve a terminal nursing degree.

Who’s eligible to apply for Bacc2DNP?

  • High School Students who have:
    • 3.8 high school GPA without test scores
    • 3.6 high school GPA, 23 ACT or 1130 SAT
  • Maintenance of 3.0 GPA while completing the undergraduate program.
  • Upon completion of the B.S.N. degree, students must take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will send you a letter with a link to the application. Students will be notified of their BACC2DNP pathway admission status by the D.N.P. program director. The program is limited to 20 students.

How do i get started?

  1. Apply to UToledo and indicate nursing as your major of interest by the deadline of January 3
  2. Let your nursing advisor know of your interest in the BACC 2 D.N.P. program

What's Next?

  1. Complete the UToledo B.S.N. program with a 3.0 higher ed GPA
    • Meet with APRN and D.N.P. program directors during the final semester of the B.S.N. program to discuss your specific plan.
  2. Take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam
  3. Complete the UToledo D.N.P. program
  4. Take appropriate certification exam in your area of specialty
