Sustainability Energy Efficiency and Design (SEED) Initiative Scholarship

The University of Toledo’s Office of Sustainability awards 4 sustainability scholarships yearly at $250 cash each.  We have awarded 8 students across the 2019 and 2020 academic years.  This scholarship is sustained through an University of Toledo Foundation annuity.  

To apply for the Sustainability Scholarship, please fill out the application form providing your name, contact information, educational goals and accomplishments, relevant experience in sustainability, and an essay in support of your application. Please submit your application through the OFFICE OF STUDENT FINANCIAL AID.

The charitable purpose of the Fund shall be to reward UToledo students who are actively involved in making UToledo's campus and the greater community more sustainable. 

Scholarship criteria is the following:

  1. Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 credit hours at UT.
  2. Students must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. 
  3. Not limited to one college, all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
  4. Financial need is not considered
  5. Scholarship is renewable, applicant must go through application process each year.
  6. Student must be engaged in sustainability on campus or in the greater community, including but is not limited to: involvement in UT sustainability student organizations such as Building Ohio's Sustainable Energy Future (BOSEF), Society  for Environmental Education (SEE), Engineers Without Borders (EWB), and Student  Green Fund (SG); involvement with the Toledo Lucas County Sustainability Commission; sustainability focused research with faculty; volunteering at UT sustainability events like Friday Night Lights, Green Tailgating, Athletics'  Green  Team, Clean Your Streams, etc.; volunteering with local sustainability and environmental non-profits, park systems, etc.; active involvement in the Environmental Sustainability Living Learning Community; attending other SEED sponsored events.
  7. Scholarship is refundable.
